Our second medical mission trip to Sorong, Papua took place from June 17-25, 2016. A total of 17 professional doctors and dentists, 23 student volunteers (from Grade 9-12), and 3 teacher supervisors participated in the trip and successfully held a free medication program in three villages of Distrik Salawati: Desa Malaos, Desa Katinim and Desa Majaran. Over the course of three days from 8 am to 4 pm, we served over 1650 locals and distributed more than Rp 60,000,000.00 worth of medicine (both for patients' consumption and also donated to the local clinic). We also conducted health seminars to over 250 children (primarily in pre-school and elementary school), where we taught them the basics of cleanliness and handed out sanitation kits (filled with soaps, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, and some toys).
